  • Full Form: PM Programme for Restoration, Awareness Generation, Nourishment, and Amelioration of Mother-Earth (PM-PRANAM)
  • Aim: Encourage sustainable use of fertilizers and promote organic and natural farming practices.

Funding and Allocation

  • Funding Mechanism:
    • No separate budget allocation.
    • Financed through savings from the existing fertilizer subsidy.
  • Allocation Details:
    • Subsidy Savings:
      • States/UTs that reduce chemical fertilizer consumption in a financial year compared to the previous three years’ average will receive 50% of the saved subsidy amount.
    • Grant Utilization:
      • 70% of Grant: For asset creation related to technological adoption of alternative fertilizers.
      • 30% of Grant: For incentivizing stakeholders, including farmers, panchayats, farmer producer organizations, and self-help groups.

Objective

  • The scheme aims to reduce chemical fertilizer consumption and encourage the adoption of sustainable agricultural practices to protect and nourish the environment.
