The names of the individuals elected to serve on VCI have been announced.
Veterinary Council of India (VCI) Overview:
- Elections:
- Every three years, the Department of Animal Husbandry and Dairying conducts elections to elect 11 members to the VCI.
- The Council also includes nominated members.
- About VCI:
- Establishment: VCI is a statutory body established under the Indian Veterinary Council Act, 1984.
- Funding: It receives 100% Grants-in-Aid from the Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying to cover its office expenses.
- Responsibilities:
- Regulating veterinary practice.
- Preparing and maintaining the Indian Veterinary Practitioners Register.
- Ensuring standards in veterinary education and practice across India.
