Veterinary Council of India (VCI)

The names of the individuals elected to serve on VCI have been announced.

Veterinary Council of India (VCI) Overview:

  • Elections:
    • Every three years, the Department of Animal Husbandry and Dairying conducts elections to elect 11 members to the VCI.
    • The Council also includes nominated members.
  • About VCI:
    • Establishment: VCI is a statutory body established under the Indian Veterinary Council Act, 1984.
    • Funding: It receives 100% Grants-in-Aid from the Ministry of Fisheries, Animal Husbandry and Dairying to cover its office expenses.
    • Responsibilities:
      • Regulating veterinary practice.
      • Preparing and maintaining the Indian Veterinary Practitioners Register.
      • Ensuring standards in veterinary education and practice across India.
