Raisina Dialogue

  1. What it is:

    • Annual conference on geopolitics and geoeconomics.

    • Addresses pressing global issues.

    • Held in New Delhi.

    • Thought leaders from the private sector, media, and academia.

Five Eyes Alliance

  1. What it is:

    • Intelligence-sharing alliance.

    • Members: United States, United Kingdom, Australia, Canada, and New Zealand.

    • Formed during World War II.

  2. Characteristics:

    • Diverse societies governed by the rule of law and robust human rights.

    • Bonded by a common language.

    • Share information to protect their shared national interests.

  3. History:

    • Began with an intelligence-sharing agreement between Washington and London.

    • 1943: Britain-USA (BRUSA) agreement laid the groundwork.

    • 1946: UK-USA (UKUSA) agreement signed.

    • Canada joined in 1949, and New Zealand and Australia in 1956, forming the alliance.

  4. Anglosphere:

    • Refers to the English-speaking countries that were once part of the British Empire.

    • Share common traditions in politics, law, and culture.
